Laredo Independent School District campuses will be closed Monday, October 9, for staff development training. LISD administration, faculty, and staff will report to work on Monday morning for their required staff development.
*Students will resume their regular schedule on Tuesday, October 10.*

Let's Show Up Together! Laredo Independent School District and Burger King
have partnered for education!
Every month at every campus, students with Perfect Attendance will be entered into a raffle for the selection of that month’s Burger King Queen and King for attendance!
Each King and Queen will be crowned and will receive a Family Pack which includes two Whopper Meals and two Kid’s Meals.


Laredo Independent School District proclaimed September as Attendance Awareness Month during a ceremony on Monday morning. The proclamation was conducted in the foyer of the LISD Performing Arts Complex Auditorium.
Students, campus principals, assistant principals, attendance officers, and administrators filled the foyer in support of daily student attendance.
LISD Board of Trustees Vice President Rick Garza and Superintendent Dr. Sylvia G. Rios took turns reading the proclamation.











LISD will resume classes
Upon completion of appropriate law enforcement agency facility checks, Laredo ISD will resume classes tomorrow, August 29, 2023.

LISD and UISD are releasing students early today, Monday, August 28.
Out of an abundance of caution in response to a general safety threat made to schools in the South Texas area, Laredo ISD and United ISD will be releasing students early today, Monday, August 28th as follows:
1. High schools at 12:30 PM
2. Middle schools at 1:00PM
3. Elementary schools at 1:30 PM
Any threat received is taken seriously, therefore, local and federal law enforcement agencies as well as school district administration believe this early release is a precaution to ensuring the safety of students and staff.
Immediate investigation by local and federal law enforcement officials continues.
Plans are to resume classes tomorrow, August 29, 2023, upon completion of appropriate law enforcement agency facility checks.


ATTENTION! LISD releasing students at all campuses due to Tropical Storm Harold
After assessing current weather conditions and participating in discussions with City of Laredo Emergency Management Team (EMT) and UISD, the Laredo Independent School District is releasing students at all LISD campuses today, Tuesday, August 22.
LISD high schools will release students at 11:00 a.m. LISD middle schools will release student at 11:30 a.m., while elementary school students will be released at 12:00 p.m.
Parents are asked to please pick up their children as soon as possible.
LISD Transportation Department has already sent buses for those students who rely on bus transportation.
Classes at LISD will resume on Wednesday, August 23, at their regularly scheduled time.
LISD will continue monitoring the weather situation and notify the public of any other changes in our schedules via the district’s social media and the local media.

Throughout the week and in preparation for the 2023-2024 school year, LISD teachers have been attending Smart Conference Training. They are absorbing information about new strategies and techniques they can use in the classroom to improve student learning.

The first Laredo ISD Kazen Fellowship Program cohort, composed in part of 10 LISD high school students, graduated from a six-week paid summer internship at the George P. Kazen Federal Building and United States Courthouse last week. The first of its kind in Laredo, under the direction of U.S. District Judge Diana Saldaña, the program was launched to give students an opportunity for mentorship by community partners.
Featured keynote speakers were Judge Saldaña, Cigarroa High School Student Lercy Aguilar, Nixon High School and Vidal M. Treviño School of Communications and Fine Arts Student Reymundo Chaires, LISD Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Gerardo Cruz, United ISD Student Odete Coss, United ISD Superintendent David Gonzalez, and Catholic Schools Superintendent Dr. Guadalupe Perez.
The students received Superlative Awards delivered by Department Coordinators Ryan Moncivais and Natalia Boyd-Garcia. Additionally, they were awarded Certificates of Completion. The ceremony ended with a video montage of a series of events commemorating their time at the courthouse.






Operation Border Health Preparedness 2023 will provide general, school and sports physicals Monday, July 24th through Friday, July 28th from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Christen Middle School. *See flyer for more information.*
